Finding Oakley Studios
Our portrait studio is located in a quiet residential area on the Luton and Dunstable border, Bedfordshire — just minutes from the A505 and J11 of the M1. We're easy to reach from Luton, Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Leagrave, and surrounding areas.
Please note: we are a garden studio, not a high street premises — there is no shopfront to look for. Free on-site parking is available. We kindly ask that you do not block neighbouring driveways when you arrive.
From the M1 Southbound — Exit at Junction 11. Turn right under the motorway and follow the A505 towards Dunstable, passing Luton & Dunstable Hospital. At the next roundabout (opposite the Halfway House Beefeater), turn right onto Poynters Road. Take the next right onto Emerald Road, beside the church with the white spire. We are on the right, opposite the playing fields of Chalk Hills Academy.
From the M1 Northbound — Exit at Junction 11. Turn left onto the A505 towards Dunstable, passing Luton & Dunstable Hospital. From Dunstable via the A505 — At the Halfway House Beefeater roundabout, exit left onto Poynters Road. Take the next right onto Emerald Road beside the church with the white spire. We are on the right, opposite the playing fields of Chalk Hills Academy.
From Luton via the A505 — At the Halfway House Beefeater roundabout, exit right onto Poynters Road. Take the next right onto Emerald Road beside the church with the white spire. We are on the right, opposite the playing fields of Chalk Hills Academy.
From Houghton Regis — From Poynters Road, turn left onto Emerald Road beside the church with the white spire. We are on the right, opposite the playing fields of Chalk Hills Academy.

From Leagrave High Street — From Leagrave High Street, turn into Emerald Road between St Hugh's Church and Chalk Hills Academy. Just past the first turning (Jillifer Road), we are on the left — the first house — opposite the playing fields.

Luton and Dunstable Border
David and Sue Doyle have been photographing the families of Luton, Dunstable, and Bedfordshire since 1990. In that time, they've captured a lot of precious moments — weddings, newborns, growing families, children growing up, and milestone celebrations of every kind.
Some of those very first tiny babies are now returning to Oakley Studios with babies of their own. That kind of generational trust is something David and Sue are incredibly proud of, and it speaks to the relationships they build with every family who walks through the studio door.
As well as family, children's, newborn, maternity, couples and solo portrait photography, Oakley Studios offers The Original Fairy Experience, Mermaids and Unicorns shoots, and magical Christmas photoshoots — bringing a little extra wonder to children of all ages.
The studio itself is a purpose-built garden studio set in a quiet residential area on the Luton and Dunstable border — peaceful, unhurried, and a world away from the high street. It's the kind of environment where children settle, parents relax, and the best portraits happen naturally. Free on-site parking makes the visit easy from the moment you arrive.

INDOOR & OUTDOOR STUDIOS
Our purpose-built garden studio gives us the flexibility to offer a wide range of looks and backdrops — from clean, contemporary indoor setups to natural outdoor settings full of character and charm.
The indoor studio is a calm, fully equipped space suited to both relaxed family portraits and more formal or styled shoots. The outdoor areas have been thoughtfully developed over the years, with multiple natural settings in the garden — including our popular children's hedgehog seats, which have quickly become a firm favourite.
Children especially love the freedom of being outdoors — and some of our most natural, joyful portraits are captured outside. And if the weather has other ideas? We always have a Plan B, so your session will never be compromised.
